DTE Recognizes and Awards Funds to the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries
DTE Energy employees and the DTE Energy Foundation last month contributed
$320,000 to help the hungry and homeless through their annual charitable
fund-raising drive. DTE
awarded funds to the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries along with N.S.O.,
C.O.T.S, the Salvation Army and Cass Community Social Services, all of which
were recognized at a press conference on Tuesday, December 21 as the largest
serving shelters/warming centers in Detroit.
DTE Energy employees gave $120,000 to 59 charities during the six-week campaign,
which the Foundation matched with an additional $200,000. Thanks to the
generosity of DTE employees and match funds provided by the DTE Foundation,
Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries received $20,964.94
from this effort.
In addition, the Foundation also awarded special grants totaling
an additional $100,000 to support five organizations that operate shelters in
Detroit – the Detroit Rescue Mission, Cass Community Social Services, COTS,
Neighborhood Service Organization and the Salvation Army, Eastern Michigan
Division. Thanks to this timely and generous gift, DRMM received an additional
$15,000.
