Who are we?
The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries is a Christian faith-based charitable organization, accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). We are dedicated to meeting the basic needs of humanity, while motivating individuals to rebuild their lives – one life at a time.
Is this a 501(c)(3) organization? Yes. Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries is a 501 (c)(3) organization. Can I claim gifts to this organization on my tax return?
Yes. Donations given to this organization are tax-deductible. How do I refer a friend for your services?
Please call the numbers on the Program Contact Phone Numbers page or call our receptionist at 313-993-4700 for assistance.
Is there a charge for services?
Please note that people are never turned away because of a lack of ability to contribute. Emergency services, including food, clothing and shelter, are always offered free of charge. Residents of our substance abuse treatment, camp, and senior services are invited to contribute towards the cost of services. Residents in transitional housing and permanent housing programs are required to contribute 30% of their income, whatever that may be, towards rent payments. These requirements are intended to help acclimatize the client to maintaining themselves independently once they leave the program and to help extend services to more people. What percentage of my gift goes directly to help those you serve?
In 2002, DRMM spent 78 cents of every dollar it received directly on clients. We are currently spending 81 cents of every dollar received on services provided directly to its clients and residents.
Do people have to accept your religious beliefs to receive services from you?
No. Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries offers a wide variety of helpful, inviting, and rewarding programs that present the gospel of Jesus Christ. Program participants are invited and encouraged to participate in these programs and services. However, participation in these activities is not a requirement for acceptance into our programs or advancement in our continuum of care. We simply hope that by ministering in a loving fashion to all who come through our doors people will voluntarily desire to learn more about what motivates us and to experience the help that God offers.
