Click here for Location and Services at a Glance Detroit Rescue Mission, located near Wayne State University, serves homeless men, women and children in the neighborhood. It provides Emergency Shelter for up to seventy men, Emergency Services including 150 prepared meals daily, Transitional Housing to 70 homeless men, and Permanent Housing to six disabled homeless men. Community Services are offered to neighborhood residents. Program residents are involved in providing community service to Metro-Detroit through voluntary participation in Paint the Town and neighborhood clean-up projects. Wildwood Ranch is a 180-bed camp located on 240 acres near Howell, Michigan. The facilities include individual cabins for sleeping, a lodge and dining facility seating 200, nature trails and grounds for archery and other outdoor sports, a tubing hill, a ropes course, a stable and a small lake. Genesis House I, a two-story residence located in the heart of the City, houses DRMM’s Teen Moms Program. It provides Transitional Housing for eight homeless teenage mothers and their eight infants and toddlers. The moms are enrolled in high school. Genesis House II, a three-story former convent, provides Transitional Housing for 68 women and their children. Genesis House III, formerly a school and parish complex provides Emergency Shelter for 32 homeless women and their children. It also provides Transitional Housing and Services for 10 women and children and Residential and Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment programs for 35 women, including accommodations for their children. The Oasis provides Emergency Shelter and Services to 40 homeless men. One hundred thirty-two homeless men are served in the Oasis and Samaritan Center Transitional Housing programs. The Oasis also houses the Detroit Rescue Mission and Christian Guidance Center’s Substance Abuse Treatment programs. Community Services include participation in numerous civic projects organized by Highland Park, including the Highland Park Clean-up Project, the Highland Park Annual Parade and Senior Citizens Clean-up projects. The Hub; Center for Operations and Support Services, located in a former factory on East Davison, has been serving DRMM clients and members of the community at large since 2000. The Hub houses DRMM’s centralized Maintenance, Transportation and Food Service, and handles all purchases and donations of household furnishings, appliances and other items. My Own Place provides Permanent Housing and Services to homeless families whose mother or father is disabled and to single men who are disabled. Property consists of a six-unit apartment building and two single-family homes.
The Highland Park Recreation Center offers Senior Services, Prevention Services for Youth, Facility Leasing and Retreat Services and Community Service. Grounds include outdoor football and baseball fields, indoor basketball facilities, exercise areas and classrooms. The Samaritan Center, housed at The Oasis and Genesis House II, provides Transitional Housing and Services to homeless men and women who have a chronic substance abuse addiction, mental illness, or combination of handicapping conditions. The Veterans Independence Program (VIP), housed at The Oasis and Genesis House II, provides Transitional Housing and Services to homeless men and women who have served their country in the military. The Christian Guidance Center, a residential Substance Abuse Treatment program for over 80 addicted or adjudicated men at a time, is housed at The Oasis.
