Friday the city of Detroit
announced a program that will run during the Super
Bowl for a group that is usually ignored during high
profile events.
Super Bowl XL will be a chance for homeless
people to watch the action while trying to get their
lives back on track.
Dr. Chad Audi of Detroit Rescue Mission said,
"We’re going to have 2 big screen TVs, we’re going
to have racks of clothes and coats. We are going to
have food and cookies, juice, pop."
Area homeless help providers will be assessing
each person’s needs to help them in the long run.
"They will be transported to the command center
to the service providers. So if they just need
shelter, we will send them to a shelter. If they
need job training, we’re going to send them to a
center where they provide job training. If they have
a mental problem then we’re going to send them to a
mental health institution," explained Dr. Audi.
If they just want to relax, eat and enjoy the
game, they can do that too.
