Michelle’s Story
When I came to Genesis house II, I was doing drugs and
protective services had taken my children away from me. It was
at Genesis House II that I began my recovery and received my
spiritual awakening.
I learned about my addiction, attended self-help groups, therapy
and counseling.
After three months, I became a stipend employee and had an
opportunity to share my testimony with the other residents. I
told them of how I had been molested as a child and was in and
out of foster homes. I told them that I started drinking alcohol
at the age of 14 and had seven children.
Since I have been at Genesis II, I have made amends with my
family and children. The court has given my children back to me
and I have been clean for eight months now. I have learned to
let go and let God direct my path. I completed my GED here at
Genesis II, and I plan on becoming a therapist to help the youth
understand that if they have had parents on drugs, they don’t
have to follow the same path.
I thank God for keeping me and sending me to Genesis II. I also
thank him for all the wonderful people I’ve met at Genesis House
II.
